Sean Astin started his journey in Hollywood as the adventurous Mikey in the 80’s classic, The Goonies.
His career skyrocketed, featuring in over 20 projects including a Cindy Lauper music video, Road Warriors, Toy Soldiers, and many more.
When Peter Jackson cast him as the loyal hobbit Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings trilogy he truly reached the status of a legend – The role of the earnest, funny, and fond of potatoes (PO-TA-TOES!) Sam quickly endeared him to millions of fans across the globe.
Following the massive success of Lord of the Rings, Sean continued to shine in hit series like 24 and The Strain. Yet, it was his role as Bob Newby in Stranger Things
that reconnected him with his 80s roots, playing the endearing new friend of Joyce (Winona Ryder) in the show’s homage to the era.
